In today’s fast-moving world, where the pace of life is accelerating, we have few opportunities to slow down, listen in to our selves and take care of our wellbeing. All you need to do is sit back and allow yourself to relax, whether at home, in the office, in a hotel or during a break while travelling. Meet Kanu, designed by Tomasz Augustyniak, a collection of lounge armchairs that is suitable for lounge areas in offices, public spaces, and homes.
What is Kanu?
At a certain point in the design process, the idea that the entire armchair, including the base, should be made of plywood, cropped up. The Kanu base was therefore cut from flat plywood and given a specific edge radius. The use of the same material was the result of a certain logic and consistency in this product.
The result of the work on the base is the wide, sloping legs. To give the chair depth and elegance, it was decided to paint the base black. Thanks to this treatment, we see a beautiful interplay of light when we look at Kanu. The light reflected on the surface of the legs is almost architectural. It enhances the shape and makes the whole armchair more dynamic.
In keeping with current trends, there is also a version of the Kanu armchair on a metal base. Visually light with an industrial character. This interesting design alternative makes the armchair a striking design element in a variety of interiors.
As well as different frames, it has two different backrests – a fully elliptical one and one with a beautifully undercut arch. Kanu can also feature an upholstered pad, not only on the seat, but also on the backrest. It is an appealing armchair in different guises. Kanu offers an impressive range of options in various styles.
