The weight of the chair is a guarantee of quality.

First of all, a chair made of high-quality materials will not be light. The simplest way to evaluate the construction of a chair is to at least try to lift it. If you are not buying in the store, pay attention to the weight of the chair specified in the description. The cylinder, chair frame, base, wheels, seat and backrest filling – if the chair is made with durable materials. It provides not only quality but also weight to the chair. If the chair weighs 20 kilograms or more, it is very likely that it contains a better mechanism, a higher class cylinder, and that the construction itself is made not just from simple plastic. For example, the seats and backrests of our heavy-duty chairs are molded from steel, so it is natural that these chairs weigh no less than 25 kg.

Polyurethane or foam?

The soft filling of the chair is also very important. Most cheaper chairs are filled with basic foam, which compresses and wears out quickly. Molded foam polyurethane filling ensures maximum comfort – it quickly adapts to body weight and movements, maintains its shape, as it is resistant to deformation. Foam polyurethane is a durable material, making it excellent for seating furniture, especially office chairs. Furthermore, the larger the amount of this filling, the softer and more comfortable the chair is for sitting (Vinerati XL HRU, Melvin HRU). Different chair mechanisms

Another one of the most common properties that indicate price differences is the chair mechanism. The chair mechanism can be very simple, such as a contact or tilt mechanism, which only allows for two working positions (Manager).  The ergonomic chair requires a mechanism that not only allows for changing several working positions (Orust HRU). Cylinders primarily differ in height, as they are designed for chairs of various heights, and their main purpose is to raise or lower the chair. The cylinder connects the seat to the chair base and is often equipped with a cover that protects it from dust. It is worth noting that cheap chairs usually have 1 or 2 class cylinders. Most of the chairs we sell are equipped with the highest 4 class cylinders (Trium HRU alu, Porto HRU, etc.). Those who weigh more, spend a lot of time in the chair, or like to use multiple seating positions should pay special attention to the cylinder. By choosing a chair with a quality cylinder, you can always be sure of its durability and strength. This part can be replaced if necessary without purchasing a new chair.

Chair Base

The chair base, or otherwise known as the cross, can also influence the choice of the chair. The cross holds the chair stable along with the weight of the seated person. Typically, chair bases are made from nylon or aluminum and can have 4, 5, or even 6 legs with wheels or feet, depending on the chair model and purpose. Our heavy-duty chairs (Vinerati, Hamilton, Austin) have six-legged bases, four-legged chairs are Tekla, or five-legged ones are the most common and widespread. The heavy-duty chair base is reinforced for even greater strength and support for any weight of the sitter. Therefore, when choosing a chair, don’t forget to inspect the cross as well. Choose it not based on color, but on the materials used and its strength, because the higher the quality of the base, the longer the chair will be used, and you won’t need to replace it after a few years, allowing you to spend money on other purchases or save it.

A small but important detail

The smallest detail, but no less significant than all the others, is the chair wheels. The wheels can be plastic or rubberized, their diameter and axle thickness may vary. They can also have brakes for safe chair movement. When choosing a chair, pay attention to whether it already has rubberized wheels. Of course, these can be purchased separately for any chair, but when the chair you are buying already has them, at least 10 euros stays in your pocket for other purchases.
